Terms of Service — TextGlyphs

These terms govern your use of TextGlyphs (textglyphs.com). By using the site you agree to them. The short version: the tools are free and need no account, the characters are public Unicode that nobody owns, you keep whatever you make with them, and we make no guarantee about where a glyph will render.

What the service is, and what you may do with it

TextGlyphs is a set of free, browser-based tools for copying and transforming text symbols. You may use every glyph, combination and transformed string you produce here for personal or commercial purposes, with no permission request, no fee and no attribution. No account is required and none can be created.

That permission covers the output of the tools — the characters themselves and the strings you build from them, including the results of the small text generator and the cursed text generator. It does not extend to the site’s own written explanations, curation or code, which are covered in the next section.

Characters, Unicode and intellectual property

The symbols on this site are code points defined by the Unicode standard, a public technical specification maintained by the Unicode Consortium. They are not owned or licensable by TextGlyphs: we cannot grant, and do not claim, exclusive rights over any character. Nobody can — a character is not a work of authorship. You are free to use them anywhere plain text is accepted.

Terms of service: Unicode characters are a public standard nobody licenses — A character is a shared standard, not property. What we do own is the writing, the curation and the code around it.

What is ours is the site itself: its design and layout, its original written explanations and render-support notes, the way the glyph sets are grouped and curated, and the software that runs the tools. That material is © TextGlyphs. You may quote a short passage with credit and a link, as anyone may; you may not copy or republish substantial portions of the site’s original text or code as your own, and you may not scrape the curated sets wholesale to rebuild them elsewhere.

Your content, and what you send us

There is no user-generated content on TextGlyphs. The site has no accounts, no profiles, no comment threads, no uploads, no voting and no submission form, so there is nothing for you to post and no licence for you to grant us. Text you type into a tool is transformed by JavaScript inside your own browser and is never transmitted to us — we could not publish, store or claim rights in it even if we wanted to.

The one exception is a message you choose to send us yourself, by e-mail or through the contact page. We use it only to answer you and to fix whatever it reports. We do not publish your message, your name or your address on the site, and we do not pass them to anyone else. If you send us a correction to a character’s name, its Unicode version or a render-support note, we may act on that factual information and update the page — facts are not owned by anyone, and we will not reproduce your wording.

Render support and the “as is” disclaimer

Whether a glyph displays correctly depends on the fonts installed on the destination device or platform, which is entirely outside our control. A character that looks perfect here can arrive as an empty box somewhere else, and platform support shifts with every operating-system and app update. For that reason the site and its tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In particular we do not warrant that a given character will render on a particular platform, that a platform will accept it in a username or bio field, that the tools will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a render-support note is exhaustive and current at the moment you read it. We test what we publish, and we date what we test; we cannot test every device that exists.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site to harass, impersonate or deceive anyone, or to produce content that is unlawful where you are.
Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape at scale, or reverse-engineer the site or its infrastructure.
You are responsible for what you do with the text you create here, including following the rules of whatever platform you paste it into. Several platforms restrict or silently strip decorative characters in certain fields; that is their policy to set and yours to comply with.

Third-party platforms and trademarks

Glyphs and symbols are public Unicode characters; platform names are trademarks of their owners. Names such as Instagram, TikTok and Discord appear on this site only to describe where characters do and do not display. TextGlyphs is an independent site and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to any of those companies, and we do not act on their behalf.

We link to outside sources — the Unicode Consortium above, for instance — where they support a factual claim. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.

How the site is funded

TextGlyphs currently carries no advertising. There is no ad network, no advertising cookie and no retargeting pixel on any page, which is the same thing our privacy policy records in more detail. The tools are free, and we do not sell data about you for the straightforward reason that we do not collect any.

If that ever changes — if the site takes advertising, adds a sponsored placement or introduces a paid feature — we will say so on this page and in the privacy policy, and the update date at the top will change with it. We will not introduce advertising quietly and leave these pages describing a site that no longer exists.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TextGlyphs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the site — including a glyph failing to display, a username or bio being rejected or truncated by a platform, an account action taken against you by a platform, or reliance on a render-support note that has since gone out of date. The tools are supplied free of charge and your use of them is at your own risk.

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves. A material change is reflected on this page with a revised update date at the top, so you can always tell how current the version you are reading is. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, stop using the site.

Governing law

We do not impose a foreign choice of law or a distant choice of court on you. TextGlyphs is published by an individual rather than a company, the site is offered free to a worldwide audience, and any dispute is handled under the law that already applies to you as a consumer where you live.

Nothing in these terms removes a right you hold under that law and cannot waive by agreement. If a court finds any provision unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remainder stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
