Cursive Text Generator – Copy and Paste 𝓒𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓿𝓮 Text

A cursive text generator turns your words into Unicode script letters such as 𝓒𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓿𝓮 or 𝒞𝓊𝓇𝓈𝒾𝓋ℯ, which look handwritten and paste into Instagram bios, TikTok captions and Discord messages. Type below and tap Copy; there is no font to install because each letter is its own character.

How to use the cursive text generator

  1. Type your name, a word or a sentence into the box.
  2. Compare the four previews: bold script, script, italic and bold italic.
  3. Tap Copy and paste the cursive text into your bio, caption or message.

Cursive is one of several Unicode letter sets. If you want letters that sit smaller instead of slanted, try our small text generator, which works the same way.

Script vs bold script: the two cursive sets

Unicode has two cursive alphabets: Mathematical Script, starting at 𝒜 U+1D49C, and Mathematical Bold Script, starting at 𝓐 U+1D4D0. Both were added in Unicode 3.1 (2001) for mathematics, which is why their official names begin with “MATHEMATICAL”. Bold script is heavier and every letter comes from the same block; plain script is thinner and borrows eleven letters from elsewhere.

Style Example Unicode block Code points Borrowed letters
Bold script 𝓒𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓿𝓮 Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols 𝓐 U+1D4D0 – 𝔃 U+1D503 None
Script 𝒞𝓊𝓇𝓈𝒾𝓋ℯ Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols 𝒜 U+1D49C – 𝓏 U+1D4CF 11, from Letterlike Symbols
Italic (serif) 𝐶𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑣𝑒 Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols 𝐴 U+1D434 – 𝑧 U+1D467 h → ℎ U+210E

The 11 cursive letters Unicode never encoded in the script block

Eleven script letters already existed in Unicode 1.1, so the script block leaves holes where they would go: B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R, e, g and o. A good cursive generator fills each hole with the older character. This one does, which is why ℬ or ℯ can look slightly different from the letters around them: they often come from a different font on your phone.

The 11 cursive script letters Unicode stores in Letterlike Symbols such as ℬ ℰ ℯ ℊ ℴ
The eleven script letters that live in Letterlike Symbols instead of the maths block.
Letter Character used Code point Unicode name
B ℬ U+212C SCRIPT CAPITAL B
E ℰ U+2130 SCRIPT CAPITAL E
F ℱ U+2131 SCRIPT CAPITAL F
H ℋ U+210B SCRIPT CAPITAL H
I ℐ U+2110 SCRIPT CAPITAL I
L ℒ U+2112 SCRIPT CAPITAL L
M ℳ U+2133 SCRIPT CAPITAL M
R ℛ U+211B SCRIPT CAPITAL R
e ℯ U+212F SCRIPT SMALL E
g ℊ U+210A SCRIPT SMALL G
o ℴ U+2134 SCRIPT SMALL O

If an even look matters more than elegance, use bold script: it has no holes at all.

Cursive for Instagram bios and signatures

Cursive works best for a name or a short signature line rather than a whole paragraph. A few ready-made ideas to copy: 𝓢𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓱 ✧ 𝓐𝓻𝓳𝓾𝓷 ♡ 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮, 𝓜𝓪𝔂𝓪 ✿ 𝒲𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓁ℴ𝓋ℯ

Cursive text for an Instagram bio or signature, such as a name in bold script
Display names and bios accept cursive letters; @usernames do not.

Where cursive text shows up and where it breaks

Place Cursive text Why
Instagram, TikTok and Discord bios, captions, display names Accepted Free-text fields take any Unicode text
Instagram and TikTok @username Rejected Only letters, numbers, full stops and underscores
Older devices and basic fonts May show empty boxes The maths letters (Unicode 3.1) need a font that includes them
Search boxes and some sign-up forms Often converted back to plain letters Many systems normalise these letters to a, b, c

Cursive text and screen readers

Screen readers read Unicode cursive by its character name, so 𝓗𝓲 may be read as “mathematical bold script capital H, mathematical bold script small i”. Keep cursive for decoration and write anything people must understand, such as a contact detail, in plain letters.

Cursive text generator FAQ

How do I type in cursive on Instagram?+

Type your text into the cursive text generator above, tap Copy on the cursive style you like, then paste it into your Instagram bio, caption or display name. Instagram has no cursive font of its own; these are Unicode script letters that look handwritten.

Why do a few cursive letters look different from the rest?+

Eleven script letters (B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R, e, g and o) were added to Unicode years before the rest, in the Letterlike Symbols block. The generator uses those older characters, so they can come from a different font and look slightly thinner or bigger.

What is the difference between script and bold script?+

Script (U+1D49C onwards) is the thin, elegant style with eleven borrowed letters; bold script (U+1D4D0 onwards) is heavier and complete, with no borrowed letters, so it looks more even in names.

Can I use cursive text in my username?+

Use it in display names, bios and captions. Platforms such as TikTok and Instagram only allow plain letters, numbers, full stops and underscores in the @username itself.
