Text symbols are real Unicode characters — stars ✧, hearts ♡, arrows and dividers — that you copy and paste as ordinary text. Because they are characters and not pictures, the styling travels with the text into a bio, caption, username or message, on almost any app that accepts plain text.

Every glyph is a genuine Unicode code point, not a screenshot. Copying ✧ copies the character U+2727 in exactly the same way you would copy the letter A, which is why it stays sharp at any size and can be pasted, edited and deleted like normal text.

An emoji is a pictographic character that a device paints in colour (🌟), while a text symbol is a monochrome glyph that takes on your text colour (★). Emoji support is fairly universal; decorative text symbols are more expressive but render less consistently, which is the trade-off this site is built around.

An empty box means the app or device you pasted into has no font for that character. The symbol is still correct in the text; the viewer’s system simply cannot draw it. Choosing widely-supported glyphs avoids this, which is why we publish honest render notes.

Some input fields strip characters they consider unsafe, or store text in an encoding that cannot hold the glyph. Usernames and form fields are the usual culprits; bios, captions and chat messages are far more permissive.

Yes — most decorative symbols paste cleanly into an Instagram or TikTok bio, which is one of the most common uses. Paste into the bio field and preview it before saving, because a few combining combos render differently across app versions.

In a display name, usually yes; in a @username, usually no. On TikTok, for example, the @username accepts only letters, numbers, underscores and full stops — no fonts or symbols — while the display name shown above it accepts decorative characters. Always test in your platform’s edit screen.

On Discord, symbols work in messages, server nicknames and channel names. In games it varies widely: some accept a broad Unicode range in names and chat, while others allow only a strict character set and will reject or replace anything outside it.

Because each operating system ships its own fonts, and a single character can be drawn in different styles — or be missing entirely — from one device to the next. A glyph that looks perfect on an iPhone may arrive plainer, or as empty box, on an Android phone or a desktop browser.

Small text is a set of Unicode superscript and small-capital letters that look like shrunken type (ᵗᵢᴢᵇ ᵗᵇˣᵗ). They are separate characters rather than a font size, so they copy and paste as plain text. You can generate it in the small-text module on TextGlyphs.

Cursed text, also called zalgo, stacks combining marks on top of normal letters to create a glitched, dripping look (ḷ̀í̥ķ̃ě̮ t̸̊ẖ̑ï̩s̥̕). It stays plain, copyable text; the intensity simply controls how many marks are stacked on each character.
