The small capital letters, with their code points

Small caps come from four Unicode blocks: IPA Extensions, Phonetic Extensions, Latin Extended-D and Latin Extended-B. They were added for linguists writing sounds, not for decoration, which is why the set is incomplete.

The missing q and x

There is no SMALL CAPITAL Q or SMALL CAPITAL X in Unicode. This generator uses ǫ (U+01EB) for q because it reads like a small q, and leaves x as a plain lowercase x, which already looks like a small capital.

Small caps: q uses ǫ U+01EB and x has no small capital in Unicode
24 of 26 letters have a true small capital.

Small caps vs tiny (superscript) text

Small caps sit on the baseline like normal letters, so a line stays easy to read. Superscript letters such as ᵗⁱⁿʸ are raised and smaller, which looks lighter but is harder to read in longer text.

Small caps compared with superscript tiny text
Small caps stay on the baseline; tiny text is raised.

Small caps generator FAQ

What are small caps?+

Small caps are capital-shaped letters drawn at the height of lowercase letters, such as ᴀ ʙ ᴄ. In Unicode they are separate characters, mostly from the phonetic alphabets, so they keep their look when you paste them.

Why does my q and x look different?+

Unicode has a small capital for 24 of the 26 English letters. For q the generator uses the look-alike ǫ (LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH OGONEK), and x stays a plain lowercase x because no small capital X exists.

Can I use small caps in my Instagram or TikTok name?+

Yes in the display name and bio. The @username accepts only plain letters, numbers, full stops and underscores.
